Confined Space Awareness training is required for workers who may enter or work around confined spaces, including tanks, manholes, tunnels, silos, and crawl spaces. These areas are not designed for continuous occupancy and may pose serious hazards such as toxic atmospheres, limited oxygen, or the risk of entrapment.
This awareness-level course introduces the definition and classifications of confined spaces, the legal requirements for entry, and safe procedures to follow before, during, and after confined space work. The course is aligned with Canadian OHSA regulations and CSA Z1006 standards.
Course content includes:
– Definition of confined and restricted spaces
– Common hazards: engulfment, toxic gases, flammable vapours
– Air testing and atmospheric monitoring
– Permit-required procedures
– Roles and responsibilities of entrants, attendants, and supervisors
– Rescue planning and communication methods
A digital certificate of completion is awarded to learners who complete the final quiz. While this course does not authorize physical entry, it fulfills regulatory awareness requirements and is suitable for contractors, engineers, inspectors, and maintenance workers who work near or assist with confined space work.
